Defra has asked us to remind members that guidance and copies of the code of practice are available on their web site http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/opengov/eir/guidance/index.htm
These documents are currently being reviewed and if you have any comments on them please let NAIM know on the forum so that we can make sure DEFRA are aware of your views.

A number of organisations which represent the public sector have got together and are in the process of creating a forum so that good practice can be shared, consistant advice given and lobbying be more effective. Thev intention is that the group will champion information rights in the public sector although each of the member groups will maintain their own identity and independence.

The forum should start in February and currently members include in addition to NAIM, CILIP. Records Management Society,NADPO, SOCITM with other groups coming on board by February. It will concentrate on DPA, FOI, EIR, PSI, and Public interest disclosure.

The Information Commissioner and the DCA fully support the concept of the group and may attend some of its meetings to answer specific issues may have.
